    1923年にオーストリアのウィーンに設立されたガラス工房Bimini。
    1938年にナチス・ドイツによるオーストリア併合などの影響を受けロンドンへ移り、戦後はOrplidという新しいブランド名でガラス製のボタンやブローチなどを製造。

    時を同じくしてオーストリアからロンドンへ移った20世紀を代表する陶芸家のルーシー・リー。
    戦時下の影響で陶器が作れず生活に困窮していた所、以前から交友のあったBimini創業者のフィリッツ・ランプの誘いを受け、1939年頃から約6年間ボタン製造に携わった。

    The Bimini glass workshop was established in Vienna, Austria, in 1923.
    In 1938, following the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany, the workshop relocated to London,after the war, it began manufacturing glass buttons, brooches and other items under the new brand name Orplid.

    At the same time, Lucie Rie, one of the ceramic artists of the 20th century, also moved from Austria to London.
    Unable to produce pottery due to the effects of the war and facing financial hardship, she accepted an invitation from Fritz Lampl, the founder of Bimini and a long-standing friend, and worked in button manufacturing for approximately six years from around 1939.
